The day started with a zany and odd match between Fabio Fognini against Albert Montanes and it changed the mood of the day, as it seemed like almost anything could happen after the Italian sort of fought off five match points in his 4-6 6-4 3-6 6-3 11-9 victory over the Spaniard. The conclusion was controversial, as Fognini was allowed to take medical timeout down 7-6 in the fifth for what he claimed was a leg injury, and some folks in the locker room thought were cramps.
